Part of having kids is getting a lot of secondhand exposure to kids' shows and movies. I've reached the point in my exposure where going to see The Smurfs with my kids was a relatively non-terrible experience.
There was a pretty good live-action cast in it. Neil Patrick Harris wasn't given enough funny material, but I liked Jayma Mays as his wife, and I'm still amused by the way Sofia Vergara says "Monseiur Gargamel." And, of course, Katy Perry gave a very moving performance as Smurfette.
I'm not saying it's good; I'm saying, as someone who could practically recite the dialogue from both of the Chipmunks movies, it was bearable.
